The birth of Hammer Horror came with the 1955 film, The Quatermass Xperiment which was followed by a sequel Quatermass 2 from there on the studio began to produce, what they are now famous for, Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Mummy movies…the rest is history. The production studio has made two of its stars famous for utilizing them in a plethora of their films Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing who both appeared in a series of Hammer Horror adaptations of Dracula and Frankenstein films. ![]() Hammer films were cheap to produce but nonetheless appeared lavish, making use of quality British actors and cleverly designed sets. It was best known for its series of gothic horror films that were produced between the years 1950-1970. ![]() The term Hammer Horror derives from Hammer Film Productions, a film production company in the United Kingdom founded in 1934.
